Greater Noida can be the destination for next IPL matches

Noida: Greater Noida could well host some IPL matches next June. In all probability, the matches will be played at the cricket stadium being built by the Jaypee group. The stadium is likely to be completed by next year.
Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association Secretary and Vice-President Rajiv Shukla on 18th September 2014 ruled out Kanpur hosting any IPL matches, which put the spotlight on Greater Noida as a venue for the next IPL season. Kanpur has its Green Park stadium, but because it lacks in most other infrastructure, it cannot be the choice for IPL matches.
Greater Noida has been on the IPL radar for some time now after the city successfully hosted the country's first Formula One event."Work is still on at the stadium, but the pitch is ready. Other allied infrastructure is still being developed," a senior official of the Jaypee group said.
The stadium is expected to initially have a seating capacity for 40,000 people, which may eventually go up to one lakh. The stadium is being built according to International Cricket Council (ICC) specifications.

However, Gautam Budh Nagar DM A V Rajamouli said his office has yet to receive any information on the subject.

"We are not aware yet whether our district will host the next IPL season. If it is finalized, we will share the details," he said.
